Following on from the success of Bristol A Second Look 2008, the snappers of Second Look once again challenge the people of Bristol to take a second look at the city.

Opening on July 16th with an exhibition of Bristol views from the members of Second Look (on show at Photographique, Baldwin St from July 16th - 22nd), the photo competition is free to enter & open to everyone who lives or works in Bristol or the surrounding areas.

The brief is to produce photographs that show:

• unnoticed aspects of Bristol,
• what we might otherwise pass by,
• the small things we might take for granted,
• details with hidden interest or beauty,
• places which people might not normally be able to see.

The competition will run from July 16th to August 31st. After the competition closes our respected panel of judges will make a short list of 16 finalists & it will once again be up to the Bristol public to choose their winner.

The finalists will go on show at The Bristol Gallery, Photographique, 31 Baldwin St, BS1 1RG, from September 10th to September 16th & the public vote will run until October 1st.

At an award ceremony in October the finalists will receive a framed print of their work & a Bristol A Second Look 09 certificate. The winner will receive A £50 voucher from Photographique, a full day 1 - 1 photography workshop with Make Better Photos, a large framed print of their picture, a trophy.

There will be more prizes & exhibition dates added to this plan so watch this space.

This event was really popular last year. We we're all really surprised & impressed by the quantity & variety of entries we received, they seemed to sum up Bristol & forced us to rethink what we thought we knew about this city. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the people of Bristol react to this challenge this time round.
